John Cena returns to ‘SmackDown Live’ on July 4th.

Tonight on SmackDown Live, John Cena returns on a special Independence Day show. Plus, there will be a battle royal match to determine the number one contender for the United States Championship, as well as a Women’s Championship rematch between Lana and Naomi and a rap battle between The New Day and The Usos. SmackDown Live will air at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the USA Network. Check back in at 8 for match results and spoilers, and read on for a preview of the night’s events.

After a three-month absence, John Cena is about to return to the WWE. The last time we saw him, he was feuding with The Miz, and at the conclusion of his WrestleMania 33 match, he proposed to his real-life girlfriend, Nikki Bella. In commercials promoting Cena’s return, it has been stated that he will be a “free agent,” meaning he can go back and forth between Raw and SmackDown. What will Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon have to say about this? And what are Cena’s plans going forward?

Also tonight on SmackDown Live, there will be a battle royal to determine who will become the number one contender for the United States Championship. This person will go on to face Kevin Owens at Battleground, the next SmackDown Live pay-per-view airing on July 23rd. So who will emerge victorious and go on to challenge the Face of America? Could it be AJ Styles.

In addition, there will be another SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Lana and Naomi. This comes a week after Naomi defeated Lana in a match on SmackDown Live, but it later became clear that Lana’s shoulder was off the mat when Naomi pinned her. As a result, Lana gets another shot at the title tonight on SmackDown Live. Will Naomi be able to defeat The Ravishing Russian for the third time?

Plus, The New Day and The Usos have been feuding in recent weeks, and tonight on SmackDown Live, they will be having a rap battle. In an appearance on Talking Smack last week, The Usos said that they’re less rappers and more poets, so they might struggle to keep up with The New Day tonight. This rap battle is just for fun, but it comes a few weeks ahead of The New Day challenging The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Battleground.
