One of the longest streaks in NFL history came to an end Sunday. Cleveland Browns All-Pro offensive tackle Joe Thomas, who entered Sunday’s game playing every snap of his 11-year NFL career, left the Browns and Tennessee Titans game during the third quarter with what looked to be a serious injury.

Thomas laid on the ground in severe pain as Cleveland’s medical staff tended to him. He was helped to the sideline with what’s been described by the team as a triceps injury. He will not return to the game.

Thomas’ incredible streak ends at 10,363 consecutive snaps played. He’s been the surest thing on the Browns’ roster since he was drafted and is a 10-time Pro Bowler. Thomas has played and started all 164 games of his career. In college, Thomas had a stellar career at the University of Wisconsin and was drafted third overall by the Browns in the 2007 NFL Draft. At Wisconsin, he earned unanimous All-American honors and was recognized as being one of the top interior linemen in the national. So far through his NFL career, he’s blocked for nearly 20 quarterbacks.

During an interview with Dan Patrick, Thomas said he once introduced himself to Josh Johnson as he entered a game to replace Thad Lewis.

Thomas is a future Hall of Famer that’s been stuck on a bad team his entire career. In 2011, he signed a seven-year contract extension worth $84 million with about $44 million guaranteed. In recent years, there have been talks of a possible trade featuring Thomas, but the Browns have held onto him and he’ll be a free agent at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. Thomas has described Cleveland as being his home, saying he doesn’t mind losing as much as he used to.
