Some Instagram users within the past day have been having trouble accessing their accounts, appearing as if it was deleted or disabled for an unknown reason.
Reports of the error flooded other social media platforms with some users pleading with Instagram to restore their account because of the deactivation.
When Instagram’s official Twitter account tweeted out several tweets during the day July 6, failing to acknowledge the issue, affected users demanded to have their account restored.
But finally, a few hours later, Instagram acknowledged the problem and said that their team is on it.
“We’re aware of a bug that’s causing some users to be logged out of their accounts,” the tweet said. “We’re working to resolve this as quickly as possible.”
But some users responded to the statement saying that the mobile application isn’t logging users out, instead it’s deleting the account.
According to The Verge, the accounts appear to be disabled and when you go onto the users’ profile, the “Sorry, this page isn’t available” message is shown. One affected user said on Twitter that Instagram asked them to verify their account by entering in their phone numbers for verification but they never received the code.
