With Hurricane Harvey moving closer to the Southeast Texas coast, Coldplay announced that their Friday night show at NRG Stadium in Houston has been postponed. Singer Mary J. Blige has also postponed her show. County group Lady Antebellum had a show scheduled for Sunday that was cancelled.

Coldplay is still on tour to promote the album A Head Full of Dreams. They were scheduled to perform at NRG Stadium on Friday, but the show has been postponed. The band revealed on Twitter that Live Nation and the group made the decision after they already arrived in Houston.

“We really wanted to play tonight, but sitting here all together watching the news about the storm we feel that we can’t ask anyone to put their safety at risk. So, sadly, we will have to postpone,” the statement reads. “We will soon give details of rescheduling/refunding as soon as we can. We are really sorry for the inconveniences this will cause. Stay safe and see you soon.”

Live Nation Houston also tweeted that ticketholders will be updated when there is more information.

The Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land announced on Facebook that the show featuring Blige was postponed. It has already been rescheduled for September 19 and all tickets will be honored that night. If you can’t make the show, refunds will be available. Further information is available at the venue’s website.

Live Nation confirmed to KHOU that Lady Antebellum’s show at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands was cancelled. Refunds will be given to ticketholders. Unfortunately, there’s been no word on rescheduling the show. The group is scheduled to perform on August 26 in Dallas.

Hurricane Harvey is expected to make landfall between Friday night and early Saturday morning as a Category 3 hurricane. According to KHOU, the Houston area is expected to see between 15 and 25 inches of rainfall. Some isolated areas along the Texas Gulf coast could see rain up to 35 inches.
