On a Week 14 slate with a bevy of critical, high-stakes matchups, the best of the bunch is arguably in Los Angles, where the 9-3 Rams host the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles in a battle between two offensive juggernauts battling for a first-round bye in the postseason.

Preview

Barring some kind of unbelievable collapse, both of these teams are headed to the postseason. But the stakes are still plenty high, as this one will have NFC West, first-round bye and playoff seeding implications. A win for the Eagles gives them a 97 percent chance at a first-round bye, per FiveThirtyEight’s algorithm, while the Rams won’t lock anything up with a win but would drop to just 39 percent to win the NFC West and two percent to get a first-round bye should they lose.

Beyond the ramifications this matchup will have at the top of the standings, this is a must-watch game due to the explosive offenses that will be on the field. Led by quarterbacks who were selected Nos. 1 and 2 in the 2016 draft, the Rams and Eagles rank first and second in the NFL in points per game, which translates to an over/under of 48 points, the second-highest of the week.

“This is what you love about the NFL,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “These games are fun. But it doesn’t make it any more pressure. It just makes it more exciting because of what our guys have done and what they (Eagles) have done to make the game a little bit more intriguing.”

While the Rams have won two games in a row against the Saints and Cardinals, the Eagles enter this matchup following a 24-10 loss in Seattle which ended their nine-game winning streak. The Rams are 4-2 at home with defeats to the Seahawks and Redskins, and the Eagles are 4-2 on the road with losses to the Seahawks and Chiefs.

The similarities between these two Super Bowl contenders are seemingly endless, and it should make for a thoroughly entertaining affair.
