The 2017 finale of Dancing With the Stars begins its two-part episode tonight, with MLB star David Ross, NFL pro Rashad Jennings and singer Normani Kordei left in the competition. Our money is on Kordei to win, but this season has thrown a lot of curve balls, so you never know what could happen. While many fans thought Ross would have been eliminated weeks ago, he remains a finalist on the show. And, though Heather Morris and Simone Biles were a couple of the top contestants, they were both sent home in shocking eliminations.
Tonight’s finale episode synopsis reads that:
After weeks of stunning competitive dancing, the final three couples advance to the finals of “Dancing with the Stars,” live, MONDAY, MAY 22 (8:00-9:01 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network. It’s one of the tightest competitions ever on the show, with some of the most skilled dancing the celebrity contestants have ever pulled off. Night one finds the couples each completing a Redemption Style and Freestyle dance. On night two, the three couples will have one last chance at competitive dancing as they perform a 24-Hour Fusion Challenge, vying to score some extra judges’ points, and one couple will be crowned the “Dancing with the Stars” champion, culminating an incredible season, which will be announced, live, on TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2017.
The winner of the season finale will be announced tomorrow and ABC reports that:
In the last element of competition, the three couples will perform a new routine as part of a 24-Hour Fusion Challenge. The couples will fuse two contrasting dance styles that they’ve performed this season, and they’ll have less than 24 hours to prepare that dance for judges’ points. The viewer votes and judges’ points from May 15 and May 22 will be combined along with the judges’ points from the 24-Hour Fusion Challenge to determine the winner. At the end of the night, a champion will be named, and the winner will be presented with the coveted Mirrorball trophy.
So, who do you think will win this season? According to USA Today, Normani Kordei and pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy are favored to win, as long as her ankle injury doesn’t get in her way.
Now let’s get into what to expect out of tonight’s episode. The rundown of this evening’s dances are:
Rashad Jennings & Emma Slater
Redemption Style: Viennese Waltz – “Dark Times” by The Weeknd, featuring Ed Sheeran
Freestyle: “Let’s Go” and ”Uptown Funk” medley from Drumline and Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars
