Boy Band 5 Alive take the stage on tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent and the five group members hail from Miami, Florida. While judge Simon Cowell doesn’t appear as excited as some of the other judges, Mel B is jumping out of her chair throughout the performance. 5 Alive covered “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe and “Pony” by Ginuwine for their song and dance performance and you can check it out in the above audition clip.

During the band’s audition, Mel B compared them to the Backstreet Boys.

On 5 Alive’s official website, their “who we are” section reads as follows:

Was it not a simpler time when boybands roamed the earth? Or does nostalgia have a way of painting a prettier picture? Armed with cubic zirconia earrings, and frosted tips, boybands will always be a guilty pleasure. In modern, somewhat chaotic times like these, what the world needs is a new boyband … Unabashed by the stereotype with unrelenting motivation, 5 Alive provides an important first foray into the wild world of hormones. 5 Alive’s music is irresistibly catchy, unapologetic, and licensed to make you dance. 5 Alive is specifically for those that truly appreciate the pure joy that pop songs bring to millions of people around the world. Not all boybands are created equal, but 5 Alive was created to change the world, and boybands will never be the same!

The group is made up of five members – Jordan Kelly, Davie Boyd, Benny Boyd, Shannon Mirage and Garrett Howzer. Howzer is known as “the nice guy”, Mirage is “the diva”, Kelly is “the heart-throb”, Davie Boyd is “the baby face” and Benny Boyd is “the bad boy”.

When Kelly isn’t stunning with his voice and his looks, he works as a stripper at night and teaches Zumba classes during the day. As for “bad boy” Benny Boyd, he is reportedly the owner of the “wrapping food truck”. And Howzer actually describes himself as a former Uber driver, turned weed dealer.
