Tonight is the 2017 edition of A Capitol Fourth, a fireworks event and concert on the Lawn in Washington D.C. John Stamos is set to host and there is a full lineup of tributes and performances. Several Grammy-nominated artists, stars and actors will be appearing and the National Symphony Orchestra will deliver a tribute to Star Wars’ 40th anniversary, with a rendition of the “Star Wars Main Title”. In addition, R2-D2 and C-3PO will appear for the tribute. And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, the National Symphony Orchestra will perform the “Star Wars Main Title” with special guest appearances by R2-D2 and C-3PO. Also, the Choral Arts Society of Washington, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band, Members of the Armed Forces carrying the State and Territorial Flags and the Armed Forces Color Guard will all participate as well. Then, to finish off the night, there will be a rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture”, complete with live cannon fire from the United States Army Presidential Salute Battery. The event airs on PBS from 8 – 9:30 p.m. ET tonight. Check out the details on each of tonight’s big performers.
The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys are set to appear and host John Stamos will join them on the drugs. Plus, Sugar Ray’s lead singer Mark McGrath will team up with them and sing. The Beach Boys are known for hit songs including “Surfin’ USA”, “I Get Around” and “God Only Knows.” The Beach Boys have released a new song titled “Do It Again”, which features Stamos and McGrath, so we’re guessing that’s what they’ll be performing.
The Blues Brothers
Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi are helping our nation celebrate its 241st birthday with a Blues Brothers appearance.
Kellie Pickler has joined the lineup of performers and many know her from her reality show I Love Kellie Pickler. The country artist got her start on American Idol and she previously won a season of Dancing With the Stars while dancing with pro Derek Hough.
The Four Tops
Motown stars The Four Tops are set to perform tonight.
Yolanda Adams is a Grammy-nominated gospel singer, who is on board as a performer.
Chris Blue was a singer on this past season of The Voice and he ended up being the season 12 winner. Currently, season 13 auditions are underway and the coaches on board this season include Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton.
Laura Osnes is a Broadway star and two-time Tony Award nominee, who will be singing this evening.
Carson is an actress and a singer. She is set to open the show with a performance of the National Anthem.
Grammy-nominated country star Trace Adkins will be performing a tribute to our troops, singing his new single “Still a Soldier.”
