Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise has returned to the intensive care unit at the MedStar Washington Health Center and has been downgraded from fair to serious condition, the hospital said Wednesday night in a statement.
Scalise was shot on June 14 when a gunman opened fire on a Republican Congressional baseball team practice in Arlington, Virginia. Four others were wounded before the gunman was fatally shot by Capitol Police officers.

Scalise was readmitted to the ICU after “new concerns for his infection,” the hospital said in the statement. MedStar said it would provide another update on his condition on Thursday.
Scalise as shot once in the hip and has undergone multiple surgeries.
