Lonzo Ball makes his NBA debut with the Los Angeles Lakers. Heavy will have his first game stats as the Lakers take on the cross-town Clippers. As expected, Ball got the start at point guard in the Lakers opening game.
Ball looked to get his teammates involved early moving the ball with quick passes to push the pace for the Lakers. As expected, Clippers guard Patrick Beverly was extremely physical in defending Ball, and could be seen talking trash to Ball in the opening minutes. Ball seemed to gain his footing a few minutes later as he crossed over Beverly and drew a foul.
For the curious sneaker heads, Ball did wear his signature Big Baller Brand shoes in his debut.
While it is a far cry from the NBA regular season, Ball shined in the Las Vegas Summer League. Ball averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 assists, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.5 steals. All indications are fans can expect Ball to contribute in many different aspects of games. Ball’s strength lies in his court vision and passing ability.
For a 19-year-old rookie, Ball’s ability to get his teammates involved is well advanced. Ball averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 assists and 6.0 rebounds while shooting over 41 percent from the three-point line.
