Before Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor touch gloves on Saturday night, they’ll face off one last time on Friday when they hit the scales.
Starting at 6 p.m. ET, you can watch a live stream of the official weigh-in via the video at the top of this page. Here’s a complete rundown of everything you need to know:
Date: Friday, August 25, 2017
Start Time: 6 p.m. ET
TV Channel: Fox Sports 1
Live Stream: Showtime Sports on YouTube (you can watch at the top of this page)
Boxing weigh-ins are typically uneventful, but nothing about this matchup has been typical. Mayweather and McGregor each know how to sell a fight better than anyone in their respective sport, and if takes them putting on a show to sell a couple more pay-per-views, you can bet they’ll put on a show.
There won’t be any physical contact–too much money on the line for either to do something like that–but there are still likely to be fireworks when they hit the scales and when they go toe-to-toe.
Additionally, there’s the storyline of McGregor’s reported struggle making weight. That’s according to Mayweather, who claims the 29-year-old Irishman–who last fought at lightweight (155 pounds)–is having problems getting under the 154-pound limit:
He better be trying to get his weight down, my weight is down. I know he’s over right now, what he weighs. What I was told, I do my homework, I’ve been hearing a lot about him getting IV bags. I don’t know if it’s true … rumors. He got seven IV bags. You know with the Nevada commission, that’s illegal.
UFC president Dana White denied those allegations, and, of course, McGregor responded in classic McGregor fashion:
“Tell him to shut his f–king mouth. He knows nothing,” said McGregor. “Fool of a thing. Let him keep praying. Praying for weight, praying for fatigue, praying for me to take a back step, all he’s doing is praying. But he’s praying to the new god of boxing.”
This may only be a weigh-in, but as has been the case with every other event leading up to this megafight, there will still be plenty to watch.
