The fire started nearby the 405 Freeway in the Los Angeles area, which was temporarily closed as crews tended to the fire. Southbound lanes of the roadway have since been reopened while northbound lanes remain closed.

ABC 7 News reported that about 200 firefighters have been deployed to the scene and have been supported by helicopters which were seen making water drops.

The Skirball Fire is the latest of many which have been raging in the Southern California area. There’s also the Ventura County fire, the Sylmar fire, the Santa Clarita fire and the San Bernardino fire.

The outbreak of wildfires in Southern California come just a few months after widespread blazes in Northern California led to 17 deaths in eight counties.
